1936 - 2016

The year of 1936, Adolph and Eva purchased a farm of 100 acres, for dairying. This was during the depression, jobs were few. I remember my Dad, quoting this verse “God shall supply your needs according His riches in glory.” The Lord was faithful. He would often go out in the woods to pray; his favorite area was on the hill where the buildings and chapel are today.

He felt led of the Lord to start campground, so shared his vision with our Pastor Mackie, they both were in agreement, which meant a lot of work. Bethel Tabernacle and Arlington Faith mission families volunteered to help clear the land. The women and children did all the brush clearing with axes, machetes, rakes and lot of bon fires! The men would work on the grounds during the weekends and evenings, they dug a well and built a cook shake. The first few years we rented a tent

Dad built a sawmill, they cut all the lumber for the tabernacle, cabins, and a cafeteria.

Sunday, they served dinner and evening lunch, any one that came were welcome to stay for meals free of charge. The women all donated pies for the meals. Wow were they ever delicious!

Through the years many people came to the Lord. The children and young people did not have special services, they too enjoyed the presence of the Lord. Many were called into the ministry and others continued to be faithful to the Lord to this day.

When Adolph and Eva decided to sell and retire, they were in a quandary, wanting to keep the people’s campground in the middle of the five acres. Brother miller was our camp speaker for several years. He and Pastor Boren.

Decided to offer to buy the hundred acres, for the Assembly of God. Brother and sister Makus decide to sell and donated the acres the campground was located on for the children of good.

Now in 2016 I and my siblings the original 5 acres is a memorial to my parents.
