I was just recalling some of the fishing experiences I had. The one I remember mostly, we were living south of Seattle. Jeannine, Josh and I decided to go fishing in Lake Washington, they had a big run of salmon. First we had to go to Lake Stevens to pick up the boat and motor. No problem huh???? The car we could use was Wayne and Jeanine’s little Volkswagen.

We drove all the way out there, tied the little boat on the top of the car, hoping it would not fly off, then drove very slowly to south of Lake Washington. When we were getting ready to put it in the water, Jeannine wondered if she should take her license. With my good senior logic I said no, they always check for them when you are done fishing and loading up to go home. I didn’t have license, and Josh was of the age he did not need any. There were hundreds of boats out on the lake, all these fancy sportsmen out on the lake!!!!! Well we slowly putted our way out to the center of the lake I and Josh fished on the way. Then Josh ran our little outboard for a while so Jeannine could fish.

After little bit I took over the of the boat, never having tried it before, I drove it like a drunken sailor, trying to learn to keep it straight so they could fish and trying to keep from crossing other fishermen’s lines I wasn’t doing to well. It didn’t take long for the game warden to come beside us in their nice big craft and bull horn. He wanted to see our license; well you know where they were. He confiscated the two poles, we had to show him the license to get them back we had to putt putt all the way back to shore. Jeannine got her license another 20 minutes went back out to the middle of the Lake, putt putt,  to show the game warden our license. We got our fishing poles back that was the end of our great fishing day, by now it was dusk.

We didn’t have cell phone those days, Wayne and Dad were concerned when it was getting dark and we were not home. The time we got back they were on the shore waiting for us.
